OYENIKE OYEKAN FOUNDATION CANCER SCREENING AND SELF-BREAST EXAMINATION TRAINING AT ORANYAN PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTER
On 18th June 2025, the Oyenike Oyekan Foundation held a cancer awareness and screening outreach at Oranyan Primary Health Centre, bringing together community members for an engaging session focused on breast and prostate cancer.
The women participated in a practical breast self-examination demonstration, gaining hands-on knowledge on how to recognize changes that may require medical attention. The men also took part in prostate cancer screening, with many receiving PSA screening for the first time.
The outreach was met with great enthusiasm and participation, as community members actively engaged with the sessions and screening activities. The collaboration between the Oyenike Oyekan Foundation, the Oyo State Ministry of Health, and Oranyan PHC played an important role in making the programme possible.
Participants who had elevated PSA levels received individual post-screening counselling and were advised on appropriate next steps.
Through initiatives like this, the Oyenike Oyekan Foundation continues to promote cancer awareness, early detection, and preventive health practices within communities.
